An estimated 220 million children across the globe are growing up without adequate parental care, due to different calamities like poverty, wars, domestic violence, alcoholism, divorce, loss of parents and many other factors. Uganda its self has over 1 million orphaned children who have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS, natural diseases, road accidents and wars.
Most of these children are often left in the care of relatives who in most cases mistreats them and denies them their rights as children, In an attempt to save themselves, most of the children end up on the streets (run away children) while others are abandoned by their relatives/parents in the hospitals, market places and churches. Whereas we believe that every child should grow up in his or her own family, sometimes this isn’t possible because some families pose high risks that endangers children, Glory land children’s home is a typical family environment that has embraced and accommodated over 239 children from all the above categories and provides a comprehensive care programme which include; health care, nutrition/feeding, education(Glory land school),physical care, re-uniting children with their relatives(Trace home programme), spiritual growth classes(bible study), mentorship programme, counselling services, vocational training, and dance and Drama.
We desire to accommodate as many vulnerable children as there is, unfortunately this remains a mere dream due to the size of our home and increased demands to provide the best care/needs for the children already in our care. We therefore appeal to you to join hands with us towards this cause to achieve our mission of minimizing children’s vulnerability in Uganda (To us every child matters
